In Sea Turtle Hatchery – Mahamodara they rescue turtles who are in danger of loosing their lives to the fishing industry whether they are caught in nets or hunted for meat. They currently have 40 turtles, including 4 types of turtle. 

For a small fee you can get closer with these magnificent creatures. Notice how staffs rehab injured turtles and turtles who are weak to regain strength or newly born turtles, and how they prepare Turtles to be released back to the sea. It is a unforgettable experience that anyone who visit the southern coast can experience on their holidays in Sri Lanka.
